- Tristan Van Der Velde
- 40
- Alias: Bird's Eye
Cyberkinesis/anthropomorphism & Technopagan ("magic")
- Can control electronics within 30ft of him without touching them - never gets stopped at a red light for long
- Can operate multiple computers at once
- Inventions! able to put together extremely complex inventions that shouldn't make sense, but are held together by his magic. Often ends up accidentally or intentionally imbuing them with unique personalities and independence. Such as:- A flock of ~50 robotic birds that serve as cameras around the city and behave mostly autonomously- His creations are wild sci-fi magitech... but also tend to be on the janky side and need constant upkeep, and people other than him struggle to repair his work
- A keyboard for sentient cats
- A robotic super suit for sentient cats (a work in progress)
- Heck House (also a work in progress)
- Romeo, a sentient android put together from entertainment androids and other various scavenged parts, his magnum opus, a source of great anxiety
- There's a serious concern that if Tristan were to die or be badly injured, his creations could similarly suffer
- Extremely physically vulnerable, doesn't even like touching weapons, ew
- Got into wicca as a teen along side a love of coding, and quickly found that with magic, he could cheat. Teachers struggled to understand how his coding worked, and why he'd insert spells into the code, but what he made undeniably worked.
- In college, bored and outpacing his peers with magical cheat codes. and then he was approached by a mysterious man with a powerful mustache.
- Taken in under the wing of a powerful wizard (Boggie the not-yet-a-Cat) to hone his skills and also help Boggie deal with the challenges of Email and Youtubes and the Internet
- Was initially a villain, working remotely to rob people and help Boggie. Boggie's ancient wizard enemies suddenly faced challenges like the IRS, property taxes on their ancient castles, missing persons reports, etc.
- Eventually, though, Tristan was caught and ultimately "reformed" -- he was never very enthusiastic about the villainous lifestyle and is honestly quite moral. Lots of honor among thieves.
- Became a sort of Otacon to big name heroes, and worked in relative peace like this for a while.... until he gradually got increasingly reclusive.
- Secretly working obsessively on a personal project. Destroyed almost all of his professional connections in favor of this.
- Vanished for several years, only to reemerge.... with Romeo, his new creation. Starting at the bottom again with this new vigilante group.
- Musically gifted, particularly with the cello and piano. Keeps trying to teach Romeo how to play but some magical quirk keeps preventing the lessons from sticking.
